A place where I'll post up some thoughts and ideas - especially on literature in education, children's literature in general, poetry, reading, writing, teaching and thoughts on current affairs.

I've just seen a film of me in intensive care...
I’ve just watched a film of me
in intensive care.
I look dead.
My skin is grey,
My hair is limp
My eyes stare at nothing.
Then a doctor comes to me
And asks me something.
I answer.
My eyes look frightened.
I have no memory of this conversation.
It’s gone.
The camera has kept it.
I look at me.
Such a dry face.
Hospital gown.
Tubes.
I can see my father’s last days there.
