Did I spot a contradiction? 

As business rushes forwards with automation, 

employing people for fewer hours, 

or not at all, 

employees will have less money to buy the goods produced by more automation?

It has been pointed out that all social media have solved a core problem of capitalists: 

the need to pay people who work for you. 

Every message we post is us working for the Big Four for nothing. 

We work for nothing to make the product saleable to advertisers.

Maths Envy

1. Believe that China's maths results in PISA and PIRLs aren't skewed.
2. Believe that China's economic success is because of maths PISA scores and not from a billion low-paid workers. 

3. Demand that English national curriculum have more maths in it and use maths as a means to select at 16 by requiring high grades as a necessary qualification to get into the A level courses, no matter your choice of subjects.
4. Cut back on the Arts.
5. Heaven.

Non-Qualified staff and the demands of the knowledge-rich curriculum

Did I spot a contradiction?

The govt says it wants a highly educated, 

knowledge-rich generation of school leavers

but says that teaching can be done by non-qualified staff

and budgets per capita (no pun intended) are being cut.

Government to appoint a Minister of Nice

The government is going to appoint


a Minister of Nice,


to show people that the Tory Party is nice


and full of nice people


who do nice things for Britain


and for all the British people


especially poor people.

Low wages are the way into poverty - not out of it

Work is the way out of poverty


apart from for those doing work


which pays poverty wages.


They’re poor.


The equation ‘work = affluence’

how to understand yourself,


your place in the world,


how materials work,


how society works,


how to co-operate to get things done,


resilience, optimism, powers of reflection,


interpretation, holding your nerve....
